Job Description

The Rome City School District is seeking NYS certified teachers to be a Teacher Tutor to provide academic support to students in grades 7-12 at Rome Free Academy's Instructional Support Center.

This part-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the duration of the school year. Teacher Tutors will provide individualized and small-group academic support, helping students strengthen subject-area skills, complete coursework, improve academic performance, and develop effective learning strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic tutoring and instructional support to students in grades 7-12.

• Deliver one-on-one and small-group instruction tailored to student needs.

• Support students across multiple academic subjects, with an emphasis on Social Studies when applicable.

• Reinforce classroom instruction and assist students with assignments, projects, and exam preparation.

• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to identify and address student learning needs.

• Foster a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student success.

• Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or successes with appropriate staff.

Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid New York State Teaching Certification.

• Strong content knowledge and ability to support students across academic disciplines.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build positive relationships with students and encourage academic growth.

• Demonstrated commitment to student success and individualized learning.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school support team.
