The Rome City School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Earth Science Teacher to join the Science Department at Rome Free Academy. The successful candidate will teach Regents Earth and Space Science, Non-Regents Geology, and Academic Intervention Services (AIS). We are looking for an educator who inspires curiosity about the Earth and the universe, promotes scientific inquiry, and supports students in developing the knowledge and skills needed for success in science and beyond. Design and deliver engaging instruction in Regents Earth and Space Science, Non-Regents Geology, and AIS aligned with New York State Learning Standards.
Prepare students for success on the New York State Earth and Space Science Regents Examination through rigorous instruction, laboratory investigations, and data analysis.
Foster a positive, inquiry-based classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving.
Incorporate hands-on laboratory experiences, field-based investigations, technology, and real-world applications to enhance student learning.
Differentiate instruction and provide targeted academic support to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including those receiving AIS services.
Must possess a valid New York State Earth Science 7–12 Teaching Certification.
Strong knowledge of Earth and Space Science content, geology, meteorology, astronomy, and environmental systems.
Experience preparing students for the New York State Regents Examination preferred.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying academic needs.
Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
Experience integrating instructional technology and inquiry-based learning into science instruction is preferred.
