The Rome City School District is seeking a qualified, student-centered educator to serve as a Long-Term Substitute High School Music (Orchestra) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to cover a leave of absence. The successful candidate will provide high-quality music instruction while maintaining a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities include planning and delivering standards-based instruction, assessing student progress, collaborating with colleagues, communicating with families, and participating in school activities and professional responsibilities consistent with district expectations.

Plan and deliver engaging music instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts.

Foster a classroom environment that promotes student creativity, collaboration, and musical growth.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Assess student learning and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and progress.

Collaborate with administrators, counselors, special education staff, and colleagues to support student success.

Maintain effective classroom management and establish positive relationships with students.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
Qualifications:

Valid New York State Certification in Music (or eligibility for certification).

Strong instructional, classroom management, and communication skills.

Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Experience teaching at the secondary level is preferred but not required.
